Delta Sigma Iota was founded in August of 2000 in order to promote unity, spread truth, value education and integrate South Asian culture into our daily lives. We are a Fraternity that stresses the importance of culture, unity and academics and continually works to provide the South Asian community at Penn State as well as elsewhere with assistance in any way possible.
Five unique men with five unique strengths combined in order to form Delta Sigma Iota Fraternity. Vishal Desai, Vipul Patel, Roby Palakudy, Tarak Bhavsar and Rupesh Patel along with Chapter Advisor Benny Joseph, joined forces in order to create the first South-Asian based, Social Service Fraternity at Penn State University.

On October 2, 2004, Delta Sigma Iota completed its first expansion to the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Ambarish Singh, Jason Matthews, Pramit Patel, Rajat Kumar, and Sid Sheth
were among the select individuals who united to bring the first South Asian Interest Fraternity to Chapel Hill.
On April 8, 2006, the six founding fathers of Delta Sigma Iota at North Carolina State University crossed. This endeavor brought the first South Asian Interest-based Social Service fraternity to the University. The six individuals that made it possible were Ankur Gupta, Karan Kachroo, Jibran Qayumi, Mukunda Singh, Parth Tarasaria, and Abdullah Zafar. They aimed to start a legacy. One that would teach others to be part of something bigger than themselves.
On April 8th, 2006, Delta Sigma Iota completed its third expansion. Ajish Abraham, Varun Gera, Imad Khan, Nimesh Kshatriya, Amish Patel, Jatinkumar Patel, Siddarth Pattanam, and Jacob Perincheril crossed to become the founding fathers of Delta Colony. The eight visionaries share the same beliefs and values as the original founding fathers and hope to make at at their school and community the difference that DSI has already made at the Pennsylvania State University and elsewhere.
