4.27.2009 DSI came home with a
handful of awards in the annual Hyperochos Awards given by
the Penn State Fraternity and Sorority Life Office. DSI won
the Distinguished Community Service Award,
Outstanding Fraternity Brotherhood Award,
and was one of 9 Greek organizations to win the
Chapter of Excellence Award.

4.21.2009 Blue and White weekend
is only a few days away. For those wishing to attend,
contact any of the active brothers to find out where we will
be on Saturday. On Sunday, the brothers will be playing in
the traditional DSI vs. SASA Football game which is expected
to be a great game.

Brothers took part in PSU and APAC's Asian Awakening by
performing a modern dance with a few Indian influences. The
dance was performed by Jason Manoharan, Bre Patel, Dipen
Patel, Adeeb Mahmood, Lucian Neville, Purav Patel, Rahul
Komati, Bhavesh Amin, Kishan Kansagra, and Josh Perincheril
who had his own solo part! The video footage will be posted

Thank you to all the
brothers from all the other chapters that came to PSU this
past weekend for Convocation. It was a huge success and a
lot of fun for all! Pictures from this past weekend

March, the brothers are actively getting ready for a busy
April. Check back over the next couple of weeks to see all

THON 2009 Has officially come to
an end. All of the DSI dancers successfully completed the 46
hour dance marathon. Congratulations to all four of them!
The 2009 total for THON was over $7.4 Million dollars,
all of which was raised by the various student organizations
here at PSU and corporate donors.
Special thanks to all the Alumni who came down to visit!

THON 2009 is underway! For the next 46 hours over 700
PSU students including 4 from our brotherhood will be
standing with no sleep or rest in the Bryce Jordan Center.
For those of you who are visiting or planning to visit
during THON, contact any of the brothers so that we can help
you find our section and show you how to get onto the floor
with the dancers.

We are pleased to annonuce that this year there
will be 4 brothers dancing for THON. Brothers
Bre Patel and
Kishan Kansagra will be
representing Delta Sigma Iota while
Ravi Patel and Nilraj
Chudasama will be representing the
Multicultural Greek Council (MGC). They will take part
in a two day dance marathon with no sleep or sitting during
the weekend of February 20-22 which is the end of the year
long THON efforts.
THON is a year long effort that raises money for children
with cancer and the awareness of pediatric cancer. Through
various student organizations, alumni, family, and friends;
PSU has raised over $52,000,000 dollars since 1972 which has
benefited the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State
Children's Hospital.

Today, the Penn State Alpha chapter crossed Xi class comprising of nine individuals who have shown immense unity and brotherhood. These nine new brothers are: Adeeb Mahmood, Akash Dhila, Anil Patel, Rohan Shah, Punit Dave, Lucian Neville, Littin Kandoth, Purav Patel and Shivam Saxena. These brothers have shown outstanding unity and dedication over the past few weeks which every brother in the fraternity holds. Congratulations and welcome to the family. Delta Sigma Iota brothers along with members of the South Asian Student Asian organized a tailgate for the Michigan game. It was a great success and everyone present had a wonderful time. Thank you all for coming out.

Delta Sigma Iota celebrated National Gandhi Day of Service. Over 60 people came out on Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m. and did different types of services. We would like to thank all the people who came out on this day and make this day a great success. We specially thank the South Asian Student Association, Sigma Omicron Pi and Lambda Phi Epsilon.

Our THON child, Isaac Thompson had been battling brain cancer for the past two years, and the battle ended on 09/10/2008. The moments he gave us were priceless, so hold on to them, remember them, cherish them. Take the time to pray for his family's well being and send your condolences as you wish. |
