NEWS: 5/16/2010 - This year, 12 Brothers graduated Penn State. Congratulations to Sunny Shakhawala, Ravi Patel, Josh Perincheril, Nehal Patel, Neel Garg, Raghav Yadav, Viraj Patel, Rahul Komati, Bhavesh Amin, Lucian Neville, Adeeb Mahmood, and Shivam Saxena! Good luck to you in the future! 5/7/2010 - Wishing everybody a great summer 2010! 4/26/2010 - Congratulations to everybody recognized at the 2009 Hyperochos Awards! Alpha Chapter was named a 2009 Chapter of Excellence and also received the Oustanding MGC Recruitment Award and MGC Chapter Involvement and Leadership Award! Individual brothers Sunny Shakhawala, Pankaj Khurana, and Viraj Patel each received the Living the Ritual Award. President Sunny Shakhawala received yet another award for Oustanding MGC President! Congratulations! 4/26/2010 - The Fall 2010 Executive Board has been elected; the following brothers were elected into their respective positions:
2/22/10 -
This past weekend Sunny Shakhawala, Neel Garg, Viraj Patel, and
Pankaj Khurana took part in the annual
Penn State THON
46 hour dance marathon. These 4 brothers went 46 hours straight
with no sleep and stayed on their feet as part of PSU's annual
efforts to raise money and awareness for the treatment of
Pediatric Cancer. Congratulations to these brothers, as well as
everyone else that helped raise money this past year for the
Four Diamonds Fund.
12/4/09 - Today DSI crossed 6 new brothers into the fraternity. These 6 young men are part of the Omicron Class. This class consists of juniors Amit Chahwala, Dhaval Patel, Dharam Sarvaiya; while the remaining 3 are freshmen who are Aaron Gopal, Pranay Soni, and Neal Mehta. The class worked hard together and proved to the brothers they are meant for our fraternity, and we are pleased to have them. 10/11/09 - Congratulations to brothers Shivam Saxena and Adeeb Mahmood for being selected as September's Brothers of the Month. 10/5/09 - Thank you to all that came to our memorial dinner for Isaac Thompson, our THON child. Our event was featured in today's edition of The Daily Collegian (a student run newspaper here at PSU). You can view the article by clicking here! 10/1/09 - Penn State's dance marathon is the world's largest student run philanthropy in the world. For those brothers not from Penn State, know that it is our largest service event of the year. It is also an event that brings our whole university student body together to form an unbelievable bond that we will all cherish for a lifetime. Three years ago the fraternity adopted a THON child, Isaac Thompson. Many of us have share an unexplainable bond with him. One year ago , the brothers of the Alpha Chapter lost their dear friend to pediatric cancer. We brothers will never forget him, and we want you to know about his life's message, as well. THON and the Four Diamonds Fund have helped many families, 
like that of Isaac Thompson. Isaac was diagnosed with cancer in
August 2006, sending him and his family through a rollercoaster of
emotions. Isaac battled through his illness with a courageous and
positive attitude. He had the heart of an angel and the spirit of
his favorite super hero, Superman. However, on September 10, 2008,
he passed away. For the past three years, Isaac and his family have
become an integral part of Delta Sigma Iota. We share his family's
belief that his life’s message was one of pure and unconditional
love. Let us all implement that message to honor him in our lives
forever, and to put us on the right path in our own pursuit. He will
forever be an inspiration to us, and we are honored to have been
graced by such a beautiful boy.
"We
will continue to dance for our Man of Steel. We will continue to
smile in loving memory. We will continue to hope, to find a cure..." With this creed in our hearts, we humbly ask of your presence at and contribution to Thon. The brothers of Alpha Chapter will be hosting a banquet dinner on October 4th, 2009 in memory of our beloved friend Isaac. We humbly ask any alumni to also join us, and possibly say a few words about Isaac to all those in attendance. He is not gone – we carry his memory within our hearts – but there are still children in need of your help. Please join us in our efforts to conquer childhood cancer. For The Kids!
