Delta Sigma Iota presents our first annual South Asian Basketball Tournament!
All proceeds from the tournament will go towards Bangladesh Cyclone Relief
Cyclone
Sidr, Bangladesh's worst disaster in years, killed at least 3,260 people and
injured
another 40,000, according to U.N. figures. Hundreds more are missing
following the
storm which struck on Nov. 15, 2007. Some 8.5 million people have been affected,
a
third of whom need emergency assistance, and over 1.4 million homes have been
destroyed. In light of this, the brothers of Delta Sigma Iota have decided to
donate the
proceeds from this tournament to relief efforts conducted by Oxfam America.
"Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that
creates lasting
solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local
groups in
more than 120 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and
fights for
social justice. We are an affiliate of Oxfam International."
