In the Fall of 2004, Delta Sigma Iota completed its first expansion to the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill. Ambarish Singh, Jason Matthews, Pramit Patel, Rajat Kumar, and Sid Sheth united to bring the first South Asian Interest Fraternity to Chapel Hill.

In April 2005, the Greek Alliance Council of UNC approved DSI for admission into the council. Despite initial difficulties and misunderstandings, the founding fathers were able to demonstrate the strength of Delta Sigma Iota in order to gain approval.

Since then, the fraternity has worked hard to establish themselves on campus by through participation in philanthropic events such as Dance Marathon and Relay For Life and by brothers' involvement in various campus organizations.
